This website has been up since November, and I've been promising for a long time that I was going to make it more than just a simple blog.
That time has come. Work to greatly expand this site is beginning today, and you should see some major changes and additions coming soon.
If you can't access dandruffpoker.com at some point this week, don't fret. It's just because we're moving servers. It will resolve itself within a few days.
The expansion will make the site into three parts:
The Forum
As mentioned in blog #7, the main reason I want to put up a forum is because I want a consolidated place on the web to discuss and analyze the many scams and scandals in the poker community. Most of this is currently done at the 2+2 forums, but such threads tend to get lost among all the other varied discussions, and most people miss those threads because 2+2 is so huge.
It is important to note that I announced my desire to have a forum before the recent troubles started at my former website. I'm mentioning this because some people think I am putting up a forum here to "replace" the one that I left. This is false.
The forum on dandruffpoker is going to be mostly uncensored, but not completely uncensored. I want everyone to feel free to express themselves and give their honest opinions, without feeling the need to kiss anyone's ass or hold back their thoughts in fear of their posts getting deleted. However, I also don't want the forum to turn into an immature cespool of trolling and shock pictures. I'm also not going to tolerate people who come to the forum simply to be disruptive or to hurt the site.
Here are a few things I'd like you to know about the forum before it goes up:
The Radio Show
I definitely want to run a radio show from this site. However, the rest has yet to be figured out. We are working on a radio broadcast platform for this site, so we won't be using blogtalkradio or any of those other third-party failsites for our show. I am not sure yet if the show will be regularly scheduled or occasional. I'm not sure if the show will be serious or of the comedy/entertainment variety -- or perhaps a combination of both. I'm not sure if I'll be doing it solo or with a co-host. I'm even tossing around the idea of getting other volunteer hosts for their own radio programs.
Many have approached me with the idea to do a show with Brandon "Drexel" Gerson, now that he has officially resigned from the show that he and I were once part of. I will agree that there are many reasons to try doing a show with Brandon. He's a great radio host, seems to know (and constantly meets) a lot of odd and entertaining characters, and we had great radio chemistry during our 2+ years of doing shows together. I am strongly considering this idea, but cannot say "yes" or "no" yet. As many of you know, Brandon and I had a pretty ugly falling-out last year, and weren't on speaking terms for quite some time. While we have both gotten past that situation, it can be hard to rebound from something like that and simply start doing a radio show again. However, as Brandon recently pointed out, we don't have to be best friends to do a great radio show together, and we both seem to be on the same page as to what makes good radio. I will admit that it would be very tough to find a radio partner as good as Brandon, so it is tempting to try another show with him. I'm on the fence on this one, so stay tuned for updates.
The radio show will broadcast live with a call-in number, and will be available in the archives. I will also work on getting it onto iTunes and Stitcher.
But there will be a radio show here. That I can promise.
The Blog and Everything Else
The blog will probably be Wordpress, and will be similar to the ones you see up here today. I will transfer all existing blogs to the new site. I might eventually feature other bloggers besides myself.
What other features will the site have? Whatever I feel like, though I can't think of anything else right now. If you want to sponsor the new dandruffpoker, let me know, and I'm sure we can work something out.
If you'd like to e-mail me, you can reach me at dandruffpoker (AT) yahoo.
See you soon at the new site!
